SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED!
The University of Texas at Dallas will award a four-year scholarship to the winner of the High School Championship section (winner must satisfy UTD entrance requirements.)
Additional scholarships may be offered.
Make plans now to attend the 2003 Texas
Scholastic Chess Championships.
Nine Separate Tournaments - High School, High School JV, Middle School, Middle
School JV, Elementary School, Elementary School JV, Primary School, Primary JV,
and a special Saturday only Kindergarten event.
A total of 7 rounds with 4 rounds on Saturday and 3 rounds on Sunday. Swiss
system pairing will be used.
Individual and team trophies will be presented with awards to all players with
greater than 50% scores. Team scores will consist of the four highest scores
from a school. At least two players required on a team to qualify for a team
trophy.
Players in the Kindergarten section have the option of entering the Primary
Section Sunday morning with 2 bye points and playing rounds 5-7.
In addition to the State Championships, other events will
include:
Southwest Collegiate Championships ($500 in prizes.)
Bughouse Championship (Saturday evening)
Blitz Chess Championship (Friday evening)
